Fashion

To me, no other Swedish blogger/stylist does it better than Columbine Smille. Her style is minimal, slightly androgynous and perfectly proportioned. She takes it back to basics by starting with a simple foundation of classic pieces then builds her daily fashion-forward ensemble by adding a pop of color or mixing interesting prints.

Smille has rightfully claimed her notorious title of ‘boyfriend’ stealer due to her love for boyfriend jeans and was my inspiration for my earlier post ‘How to wear boyfriend jeans like a girl’.

Here are some of my favorite Smille moments:

Acne ripped boyfriend jeans with Alexander Wang shoes.

Isabel Marant mesh dress, Dolce & Gabbana heels, Carin Wester bomber and Whyred sweater dress.

H&M jacket, Weekday sweater, Acne jeans, Kurt Geiger bag and shoe

Acne Jacket, shoes & jeans. Bag by Chloe.

Monki jacket, Acne t-shirt, vintage skirt, ALDO shoes & Chloe bag

There is one key ingredient that never fails to prevail in pre-fall collections and without doubt it’s had another makeover. Designers such as Michael Kors, Marni and 10 Crosby Derek Lam, are putting a modern twist on the traditional Scottish heritage by creating bolder patterns and mixing neon colors together to create a more youthful look.

Here’s to the Rise of Tartan!

I remember buying my first pair of flared Lee jeans in middle school. A couple of years later I took a pair of scissors to them and cut them into frayed denim shorts. I am regretting that now…

All it needs is a loose fitting top and some height to lengthen your legs and you’re ready to go.

On Tuesday night, my work place was transformed in to a set of a fashion show to host the Trelise Cooper Boadroom Collection. Trelise Cooper is one of the most successful New Zealand fashion designers but she does not label her clothing as New Zealand clothing. Being such a young country with no real heritage of fashion icons, Trelise had to constantly create new ideas and products to cross international borders and search for new markets.

We were lucky enough to view both the original Boardroom Collection as well as some pieces from the new Spring collection. The boardroom collection featured both feminie silhouettes of peplum jackets and dresses with large shoulder accents as well as soft ruffles in floral prints. For Spring, lines were more fluid with a balance of print, texture and colour blocking in neutral tones, finishing off with bright hues in pink and cyan.

It was a great night flowing with drinks, good food and amazing outfits. Here are some snaps from the night.
